Manado, North Sulawesi – As a concrete demonstration of its commitment to environmental preservation, PT Bank JTrust Indonesia Tbk (J Trust Bank) has officially launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program titled “School Adoption Program: Building Environmental Awareness & Sustainable Waste Management Behavior.” The launch ceremony for this year-long, intensive educational initiative took place at SD Inpres Malalayang, Manado, on July 22, 2026.
The program was initiated based on J Trust Bank's commitment to shaping the character of the younger generation to care for the environment from an early age. By instilling small, daily habits—such as sorting waste, disposing of trash properly, and using reusable containers—the program aims to create a positive domino effect that begins within the school environment and extends to the household level.
Strategic Synergy for Sustainable Behavior Change
In its implementation, the J Trust Bank Manado Branch collaborated with CV Daur Sinar Gemilang as the CSR executing partner. This synergy integrates comprehensive environmental education, the provision of supporting infrastructure, and a continuous monitoring system to ensure long-term behavioral transformation within the school ecosystem.
In its initial phase, the program has educated over 330 students and 20 educators. The educational materials focused on implementing the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R), identifying types of waste, and understanding the direct impact of safe waste management on public health and ecosystem sustainability.
Provision of Facilities and Strategic Location Selection
To support the successful implementation of the program, J Trust Bank has equipped the school with color-coded segregated waste bins, sorting bags for classrooms, and full support for daily waste collection services for an entire year.
SD Inpres Malalayang was selected as the pilot project based on geographical needs, institutional readiness, and the potential for a broad social impact. Located in the coastal area of Manado, the school is projected to become a model for environmental education (eco-school) that can be replicated by other educational institutions across North Sulawesi.
