Jakarta, 27 September 2026 — J Trust Bank continues to strengthen its commitment to environmental sustainability through a Mangrove Planting Ceremony held at Taman Mangrove Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), North Jakarta, in collaboration with CarbonEthics. The initiative is part of J Trust Bank’s ongoing environmental CSR program to support the restoration and protection of coastal ecosystems while encouraging greater environmental awareness and employee participation in sustainability initiatives. The program supports a mangrove restoration project in Harapan Island, Kepulauan Seribu and Riau Islands, with 500 mangrove trees targeted for planting.
The mangrove initiative reflects J Trust Bank’s continued efforts to connect sustainable finance with tangible environmental action. The Bank’s collaboration with CarbonEthics has been ongoing since 2024, supporting mangrove conservation initiatives through TORA Green Savings, Blue Oceans Savings, and subsequent Green Savings programs. Through this continued partnership, J Trust Bank and CarbonEthics contribute to coastal ecosystem restoration while raising awareness of the important role of mangrove forests in supporting biodiversity, coastal resilience, and climate mitigation.
During the ceremony, CarbonEthics expressed its appreciation for the commitment of J Trust Bank and its customers in supporting mangrove projects. The organization highlighted how this continued support contributes to coastal ecosystem protection, biodiversity conservation, and positive impacts for coastal communities.
The event also provided an opportunity for J Trust Bank employees to become directly involved as environmental volunteers. A total of 35 employees participated in the program, representing several divisions across the Bank, including Customer Experience, Branch Management, Credit Collection, Corporate Secretary Division, WMPBD, Financial Control, and the ODP 2026 Team. This participation demonstrates the Bank’s efforts to foster employee engagement in environmental initiatives and translate sustainability commitments into meaningful actions.
Beyond the ceremonial planting, employees participated in a series of hands-on environmental activities designed to provide a deeper understanding of mangrove ecosystems. The activities included a mangrove planting workshop, mangrove seedling workshop, bronjong workshop, and mangrove boat tour.
During the mangrove seedling workshop, volunteers learned how mangrove seeds are placed in small polybags to provide a safe environment for initial root development before the seedlings are transferred to coastal areas. Participants also learned about bronjong, a rock-filled structure placed around newly planted mangroves to help reduce the impact of waves and create a safer environment for young mangroves to establish their roots.
The experience continued with a boat tour through the mangrove area, allowing participants to observe the ecosystem and its role in supporting local biodiversity. The tour provided an opportunity to see various forms of wildlife, including birds, reptiles, and crabs, while learning about the role of mangrove areas in protecting coastal environments.
The September 2026 initiative builds on J Trust Bank and CarbonEthics’ environmental collaboration since 2024. With the September 2026 program, J Trust Bank continues to develop this partnership as part of its broader environmental sustainability journey.
Through the Mangrove Planting Ceremony, J Trust Bank seeks to contribute not only to mangrove restoration but also to building greater awareness and participation in environmental conservation. The initiative reflects the Bank’s commitment to encouraging employees, customers, partners, and other stakeholders to take part in meaningful environmental action—supporting healthier coastal ecosystems and a more sustainable future.
J Trust Bank believes that every helping hand can make a difference. By working together, small actions can grow into meaningful contributions for the environment and future generations.
