Jakarta, 29 January 2026 – As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, PT Bank JTrust Indonesia Tbk (J Trust Bank) held a CSR activity entitled "Food Loss & Waste Management: How to Make Eco-Enzyme from Fruit Peel" at SDN Kemanggisan 17, West Jakarta.
This activity aims to increase children's understanding of waste management and food waste prevention from an early age through educational approaches and simple practices that are easy to apply in daily life. This program is carried out in collaboration with the Surplus Indonesia, and involves 50 elementary school students in grades 3-5, teachers, volunteers, and environmental facilitators.
In this activity, the participants received education on organic waste management and were introduced to the use of fruit peels into eco-enzymes or organic liquid fertilizers. In addition, students are also invited to plant tree seedlings in the school environment as part of efforts to foster concern for the environment and sustainability practices.
As a support for learning activities and environmentally friendly practices in schools, J Trust Bank distributes various supporting facilities, including sorted waste bins divided into three types of waste, 26 tree seedlings, gardening equipment, and educational media such as puzzles and educational comics. In addition, participants also received imperfect juice produced by Surplus as an example of the use of fruit that is not absorbed by the market but is still safe and worth consumption.
Through this activity, J Trust Bank hopes to foster awareness among the younger generation of the importance of waste management and food waste reduction, as well as encourage the application of sustainability values from an early age. This initiative is part of J Trust Bank's commitment to support the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, especially in the pillars of environment and sustainable education.
