Quoted from https://perliban.kemendagri.go.id Indonesia is ranked 62 out of 70 countries related to literacy levels, or is in the bottom 10 countries with low literacy levels. This is based on a survey conducted by the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) released by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 2019.
"Indonesia's literacy level in research in 70 countries is at number 62," said expert staff to the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri), Suhajar Diantoro at the 2021 National Coordination Meeting for Libraries. literacy level.
Literacy itself is the depth of one's knowledge of a subject of science. The low level of literacy of the Indonesian nation is suspected because for decades the Indonesian nation has only dwelled on the downstream side.
"Automatically, because it is claimed as a nation with a low reading culture, the literacy index is also low," he said.
This stigma causes Indonesia to have low competitiveness, low human resource development index, low innovation, low income per capita, and low nutritional ratio.
Therefore, J Trust Bank really appreciates the social movements carried out by KJC. As an action, J Trust Bank supports providing quality reading books to support coastal children to easily access quality books in order to support to the nation's next generation in the field of journalism that is reliable and has the opportunity to progress and develop.
