Jakarta, 10 Juli 2025 – PT Bank JTrust Indonesia Tbk (J Trust Bank) supports the arrangement and integration of Lapangan Banteng with the A.A. Maramis Building Area. This integration arrangement is a form of collaboration between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, using non-APBD financing through compensation for exceeding the Building Floor Coefficient (KLB) value of J Trust Bank. The implementation of this arrangement activity will begin in July 2025 and is targeted for completion in March 2026.
This arrangement aims to integrate the green space between Lapangan Banteng and the A.A. Maramis Building area as a framework for the formation of the Jakarta heritage area (Formal-Heritage District).
The design approach to be applied in the corridor between Lapangan Banteng and the A.A. Maramis Building Area allows the creation of an integration zone that not only connects the two historic points, but also enlivens the area as an active, educational, and pedestrian-friendly urban space. Thus, the integration of this area is not merely physical, but also rebuilds the human relations with historical space.
Moreover, the design of the area will prioritize pedestrians as the main users of urban space. One strategy that can be implemented is the woonerf or shared street concept introduced by Niek De Boer, which is a road system that removes the rigid boundaries between vehicles and pedestrians.
Instead of strictly separating sidewalks and road markings, the spaces are designed to blend together to create a safe, comfortable walking experience that is open to a variety of social activities. This design will also prioritize pedestrians and cyclists, by presenting elements such as shade trees, seating, and patterned road surfaces. These elements not only slow down the speed of vehicles, but also reinforce the sense of an inclusive shared space.
